Kwon’s work spans multiple media platforms include painting, drawing, video and sculpture. His recent series of black and white drawings depicts cataclysmic scenarios involving comic characters and combat scenarios. He continues his exploration of mass media imagery on the subject of countless deaths as the object of fear, taboo and the satisfaction of our voyeuristic desire to witness such events. He standardizes such imagery in repeated formats creating works of people dancing, standing in line or flowers as a commentary on the overflowing imagery bombarding us and perceived by a public that only skim the surface. Much as in his works on paper that create beautiful imagery of war and cartoons that we have grown accustomed to.
