김수영은 높은 주택건물들과 사옥들을 그리는 작가이다. 빌딩에 반사되는 빛과 반복되는 작은 프레임들의 나열은 그만의 독특한 색감과 구성을 보여준다. 빌딩의 프레임들이 확대되어 추상화처럼 비춰지기도 하며, 현대의 풍경으로 비춰지기도 하는 그의 작품에 대한 매력은 곧고 바르면서도 서정적인 느낌을 준다. 작가의 구조에 대한 연구는 추상화의 구성연구로 이어지며 독특한 관점에서 빌딩의 여러 방면을 살피며 그려지는 다양한 결과물로 나타난다. 직선들의 조합이 결코 차갑지 않게 느껴지는 그 만의 매력은 다시 한 번 이 추상
들이 풍경으로 다가오게 만든다. 일상 어디서나 볼 수 있는 이 빌딩들의 풍경은 현대사회에 대한 연민으로 나타나며, 그 연민은 다시 건물이 아닌 사람에게 집중되는 묘한 구조를 갖는다.

김수영은 서울대학교미술대학 서양학과를 졸업하고 Kunstakademie Dusseldorf 에서 석사를 받았으며, Hochschule fur Bildende Kunste Braunshweing에서 수학하였다. 국내외의 다수의 전시에 참여하였으며, 현재 서울 몽인아트스페이스 입주작가이다.
