박진아의 작업은 ‘재현하는 내용’과 ‘재현하는 방식’은 일관되게 지속되고 있다. 변화가 있다면, 분할된 화면에서 하나의 화면으로 옮겨지고 있다는 점이다. 이것은 2개 또는 4개의 화면에서 하나의 화면으로 옮겨왔다는 것 이상의 의미를 내포하고 있다. 이전 개인전 제목(<여가(餘暇)>, )에서 알 수 있듯이 그는 사회적 생산체계에서 무의미한 행동을 작업의 대상으로 삼았다. 이것들은 특히 화면에서 미묘한 움직임을 보이고 있는 인물의 행동에 의해서 구체성을 지닌다. 비슷하면서도 다른 4개의 화면은 시간의 차이뿐만 아니라 다양한 구성과 붓 터치를 통해 회화적 차이를 드러내기에 적합했다. 그들은 하나이면서 미묘한 차이(단순히 시간뿐만 아니라 회화적인 측면에서)에 의해 하나가 아니다.
분할된 화면은 <문탠(Moontan)>연작에서 하나로 합치된다. 가운데 펼쳐져 있는 돗자리가 상징하듯 그들은 하나의 목적으로 이곳에 모였다. 그러나 박진아가 포착한 그들의 모습은 산만하다. 각자가 자신의 소소한 일에만 몰두하고 있다. 분할된 화면에서 볼 수 있었던 미묘한 차이들이 한 화면에서 다른 인물들을 통해 조합된다. 그러기에 이들의 모습은 중심에 있는 돗자리에 모이지 못하고 그 주변을 부유하고 있다. 이곳을 찾은 소기의 목적이 분명함에도 불구하고 말이다. (<문탠(Moontan)>에서 상당부분을 차지하고 있는 어두운 배경은 또 하나의 의미를 획득하고 있다. 어두운 배경은 주변부를 차단하면서 이 상황 자체에 주목하게 한다. 인물들이 중심에서 개별적으로 존재하듯이, 이 공간 역시 전체의 그 어떤 곳에서 떨어져 있는, 겉돌고 있는, 부유하는 공간으로 설정된다.)

박진아, 1974년 미국 출생. 박진아는 서울대학교에서 회화를 전공하였으며 런던의 Chelsea College of Art & Design에서 석사를 받았다. 금호미술관등에서 개인전을 열었으며 광주비엔날레와 국내외 다수의 그룹 전에 참가하였으며 2010년 성곡미술관에서 전시가 예정되어있다. 현재 서울에 작업실을 두고 있다.
